The Athletics Department at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for the Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach position with an appointment to begin Summer 2024.

Position
The Men’s Basketball program at California State University, Fullerton is a highly competitive program that competes in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach reports directly to the Men’s Head Basketball Coach and they assist with coaching in this program in addition to the following duties:

  • Assist with coaching a highly competitive men’s basketball program which competes in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference
  • Assist with recruiting Division I quality student-athletes
  • Assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes
  • Assist with developing a plan for yearly implementation of offensive and defensive philosophies
  • Know and abide by NCAA, University & Big West rules and regulations
  • Scout and conduct statistical analysis of recruits and opponents
  • Work harmoniously with the Strength & Conditioning Coach to assist and monitor student athletes’ year-round training and conditioning development
  • Work in conjunction with the head coach regarding travel coordination, scheduling, and practice planning
  • Take an active role in marketing men’s basketball on campus and within the community through public appearances and promotional efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three years of Division I collegiate Basketball coaching experience or 4 years playing experience at the NCAA Division I level and 5 years coaching at the high school, club or non-Division I NCAA level, or equivalent
  • Proven ability to recruit highly skilled student-athletes and a demonstrated commitment to their satisfactory academic progress
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division I rules and regulations
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and to work harmoniously with students and colleagues
  • Demonstrated competitive on-court coaching ability and skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCAA Division I Basketball coaching experience and knowledge of various scouting and video editing software systems.

The College and Department
This position is housed in the Athletics Department under the Division of Student Affairs. The classification for this position is Coaching Specialist and is in the faculty bargaining unit. This is a 12-month, full time position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation
The Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach classification salary range is $6,227 to $11,088 monthly (12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $6,666 to $8,334 per month. 

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).
