Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of the academic functions within the dental school. In collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrative leaders, this role will ensure the integrity and quality of the academic program, drive innovative curriculum development, and foster an environment of academic excellence that aligns with the school’s mission and goals. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean to support and enhance student learning outcomes, faculty development, and academic policy implementation, maintaining rigorous standards for accreditation and compliance.
Position Responsibilities: 
  • Curriculum Development and Oversight: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous assessment of the dental school curriculum, ensuring alignment with best practices in dental education and industry standards.
  • Academic Policy and Compliance: Establish, evaluate, and update academic policies to ensure compliance with accrediting bodies and Yeshiva University’s standards, supporting the successful progression and graduation of students.
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development: Oversee faculty recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives, working to foster a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive academic environment.
  • Student Academic Support: Develop and implement strategies to support student success, including advising, tutoring programs, and other academic support services, ensuring an exceptional student experience and high academic standards.
  • Accreditation and Assessment: Coordinate all accreditation and assessment activities related to the academic programs, ensuring the dental school maintains accreditation and meets required benchmarks.
  • Resource and Budget Management: Collaborate with the Dean and administrative staff to manage resources effectively, ensuring academic initiatives are financially sustainable and in line with institutional goals.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of the dental school’s strategic plan, focusing on academic initiatives, faculty excellence, and student success.
Experience & Education Background:
  • DDS/DMD and/or PhD required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in academic leadership in dental or medical education is required.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team of faculty and academic staff.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • Curricular Expertise: In-depth knowledge of curriculum development, instructional methods, and assessment strategies relevant to dental education.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Ability to develop, implement, and assess strategic initiatives that promote academic excellence and align with institutional goals.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Dedication to fostering an inclusive academic environment that supports the success of diverse student and faculty populations.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with accrediting and licensing standards for dental education, as well as broader regulatory requirements in higher education.

Salary Range: $200,000 - 275,000
