Position Summary:

Associate Dean, MSW Online program option is responsible for the daily operational activity of the MSW online program option. This includes overseeing the planning and implementation of program and/or departmental services and activities along with the administration of the day-to-day delivery of program content. The Associate Dean will liaise with the Online Program Manager (OPM, currently Everspring) or equivalent, supervise, train, and provide leadership to the faculty and staff of MSW Online program option. The Associate Dean will participate in new program development, organizational planning, practicum operations, student recruitment, student review committee, and oversee supportive and corrective action for students having trouble, program budget, secure additional funding for the program, and evaluate the program in accordance with curriculum and accreditation standards.  This position reports to the Dean of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work.

Position Responsibilities:

Program Administration

  • Primary liaison with the OPM or equivalent.
  • Primary responsibility for the public relations and promotional activities of the program
  • Provides administrative oversight to the Program.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of program, services and activities and is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of program content in accordance with program goals and objectives as well as curriculum and accreditation standards.
  • Oversees program coordination and logistics; prepares necessary reports; resolves problems and makes changes to accommodate changing priorities and needs.
  • Develops budget recommendations and manages approved program budget; makes decisions regarding appropriateness of expenditures and prepares budget reports and projections.
  • Keeps informed of and monitors compliance with state licensing, professional certification and accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Supervises the necessary administrative paperwork, records, filing system to support program, including fiscal, personnel and student records.
  • Assists with the development of internal and external reports, handbooks, and other documents.
  • Liaison to Yeshiva University departments such as student aid, student services, etc.
  • Audits student schedules and transcripts to ensure they are registered in appropriate courses each semester.
  • Handle student inquiries (email, phone,) and coordinate with Graduate Student Admissions Office and OPM.
  • Serves as the conduit for communications between Wurzweiler and staff and faculty working in the MSW online program option.   
  • Serves as the conduit for communications between Wurzweiler and students enrolled in the MSW Online program option.
  • Identify areas of need and improvement to maintain the success of the online program.
  • Participate in school committees, meetings, and projects as appropriate to the online program.

Faculty and Staff Support

  • Works to assure a proper match between faculty expertise and available courses.
  • Provides orientation and training to adjunct instructors.
  • Work with Registrar and other WSSW staff to coordinate effective and efficient course scheduling, reporting and registration.
  • Monitors faculty workload and works with sequence chairs and Dean to help manage workloads and course assignments.
  • Works with faculty to get courses open on Canvas each semester, ensure all students are properly enrolled in online courses, act as liaison with faculty/students, Yeshiva University Information Technology. (IT) and OPM regarding Canvas issues and troubleshooting.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional, classified and student staff, either directly or through supervisors.
  • Available to teach in one or more curricular areas in the MSW online program

Student Support

  • Responsibility for planning and implementing orientations and other major events that related to the lifecycle of students.
  • Schedule all courses to meet students’ course plans and certificate requirements.
  • Coordinates student advising
  • Assists with retention efforts.
  • Serves as a resource to students, staff and others on matters relating to program policies, procedures, and activities.
  • Work closely with OPM to determine admission projections to ensure appropriate level of student services and courses.
  • Assists in the recruitment of qualified students into the program through promotional activities and contact with target populations; assesses educational need of target population and recommends courses of action to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for registration, course schedules and academic records; provides academic, career and personal counseling to applicants and students; monitors student progress.
  • Following established School policies and procedures regarding disciplinary actions, academic probation, dismissal, and exceptions to prescribed program.  Maintains records of these actions.
  • When and where applicable manage awarding of academic certificates, which includes auditing student transcripts for certificate program eligibility, solicit and gather applications, verify eligibility with Practicum Education Office, maintain database of students eligible.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Minimum of 5 years administrative experience in human services or education.
  • Program development experience
  • Personnel management experience
  • Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience
  • Asynchronous online teaching experience
  • MSW degree and license eligible.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of CSWE accreditation and social work licensing requirements
  • Demonstrated experience administrating academic or other complex systems and/or organizations.
  • An understanding of online education delivery
  • Be a team player and work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.

Salary Range

$160,000 -165,000
