Position Summary:

The Head of Shabbos on the Wilf Campus oversees all aspects of Shabbos operations, combining the roles of Shabbos Coordinator and Shabbos Programming Lead. This position is responsible for creating menus, projecting attendance, communicating quantities with Five Star, coordinating food deliveries, managing kitchen storage and equipment, and tracking inventory to ensure all items are received and accounted for. The Head of Shabbos handles CafCard charges, allergy and complaint management, and coordinates special meals such as JSS and Sephardic Shabbatonim. They serve as the primary liaison between OSL, UTS, the Cafeteria, and Five Star, ensuring seamless logistics. Additional responsibilities include preparing the weekly Shabbos schedule, inviting and housing Shabbos guests, hiring and supervising the Mashgiach and wait staff, and overseeing Friday night and Shabbos day meals. This role requires full oversight of all food orders, budgeting, and menu adjustments to maintain a high-quality, well-organized Shabbos experience on campus.

19 hours per week.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Creating menus
  • Projecting attendance and communicating with Five Star about quantities
  • Coordinating food deliveries
  • Arranging fridge and storage space, ordering equipment, and managing kitchen storage
  • Tracking inventory
  • To see if items from the delivery are missing last week, the cake for kiddish was missing
  • Keeping track of cutlery, drinks, and non-perishable items
  • Manually charging CafCards due to system changes
  • Handling complaints, sign-up issues, and allergies
  • Coordinating for special meals (such as JSS or Sephardic shabbatonim and weekly meals)
  • Coordinating logistics between OSL, UTS, the Cafeteria, and Five Star
  • Prepare weekly Shabbos schedule
  • Invite guests for each week on campus
  • Arrange the housing of guests
  • Hiring and supervising Mashgiach and waiters
  • Supervising Shabbos meals - on-site for Friday night and Shabbos Day meals
  • Full oversight over coordination with 5 Star, including all food orders and budgeting abilities to make adjustments to menus and stay within our budgets, and coordination on-site at Wilf
Experience & Education Background:
  • Food Service and Kashrut Oversight: Familiarity with kosher food preparation, kitchen management, and supervision of Mashgiach and catering staff
  • Administrative and Budgeting Skills: Strong organizational skills with experience managing budgets, vendors, and logistical coordination across multiple departments
  • Community Engagement and Leadership: Ability to build relationships, host guests, and create a welcoming Shabbos environment while managing staff and volunteers effectively
Salary Range: $45.55 - $45.55 per hour
