Position Summary:    

Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring a new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today’s dental thought leaders and master clinicians.  The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Clinical Practice #1 is a full-time faculty leader responsible for oversight, coordination, and quality assurance of clinical education within the Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine (YUCDM). The Director ensures that clinical training is delivered in a safe, ethical, and educationally sound manner, consistent with institutional outcomes, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.

In addition to administrative and clinical leadership responsibilities, the Director serves as an active educator, teaching preclinical courses in Complete Dentures and Removable Dentures, overseeing Clinical Practice #1, and participating in interdisciplinary instruction within Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics and other assigned courses. This role requires sustained institutional presence and engagement across teaching, clinical supervision, student support, and administrative leadership.  This is a full-time (35 hours per week) faculty appointment.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical Education Leadership and Oversight

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for undergraduate clinical education, with primary responsibility for Clinical Practice #1.
  • Ensure clinical education aligns with program competencies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based practice.
  • Oversee clinical protocols, workflows, and student supervision models to support effective learning and patient care.
  • Coordinate with specialty directors, clinic administrators, and faculty to ensure consistency in clinical instruction and evaluation.
  • Monitor clinic productivity, case mix, and student experiences to ensure adequate clinical exposure and competency development.

Teaching and Instructional Responsibilities

  • Deliver preclinical instruction in Complete Dentures and Removable Dentures, including lectures, laboratory exercises, and competency assessments.
  • Teach and supervise students within Clinical Practice #1, integrating preclinical knowledge into clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teaching within Restorative Dentistry (D1) and other foundational or clinical courses as assigned.
  • Develop and update instructional materials, learning objectives, and assessments in alignment with CODA standards and institutional outcomes.
  • Support faculty calibration to ensure consistent instruction and evaluation across clinical settings.

Student Supervision, Support, and Mentorship

  • Provide direct clinical supervision and feedback to students during patient care activities.
  • Monitor student progress toward clinical competency and professionalism expectations.
  • Support students through mentoring, advising, and remediation processes when needed.
  • Maintain availability outside scheduled clinic sessions to support student learning and professional development.

Administrative and Programmatic Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the clinical leadership team, contributing to policy development and clinical program planning.
  • Participate in curriculum integration efforts to ensure seamless transition between preclinical and clinical education.
  • Collaborate with assessment and curriculum committees to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to accreditation documentation, clinical outcomes reporting, and institutional assessment activities.
  • Participate in institutional committees and initiatives related to clinical education and patient care.

Time Commitment and Appointment Structure

  • This position is a full-time faculty appointment requiring a 35-hour workweek.
  • Responsibilities include clinical supervision, teaching, administrative leadership, student support, curriculum development, and institutional service.
  • Teaching assignments may occur in block formats; however, the Director maintains continuous institutional engagement throughout the academic year.
  • Collaboration with Academic Leadership: Partner with academic leaders to integrate clinical practice into the curriculum, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for professional success.

Data Analysis and Reporting 

  • Collect and analyze clinical data to monitor performance, identify trends, and support decision-making to enhance clinical operations.

Experience & Educational Background:

Required Qualifications

  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
  • Significant experience in clinical dental practice and dental education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead clinical programs and supervise students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in clinical administration or program leadership in a dental school setting.
  • Familiarity with CODA accreditation standards and clinical competency assessment.
  • Experience teaching removable prosthodontics and related preclinical courses.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and mentorship skills.
