Position Summary:

The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University is looking for a Director of Marketing and Communications to develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive strategy to enhance the law school's reputation, build its brand, and meet recruitment and fundraising goals. Title, which can range from Director to Associate Dean, and salary will depend upon years of experience.
This role involves managing all aspects of internal and external communications, digital presence, and media relations. The Director of Communications must demonstrate a proven ability to lead communications in high-stakes environments where outcomes materially affect multiple constituencies, including university leadership, faculty, students, alumni, donors, and external partners. They will be a key member of a collaborative and supportive senior leadership team, contributing to the ongoing cultivation of a law school community that values innovation, creative problem-solving, and social justice. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the judgment and agility to assess how messages will resonate across audiences with competing priorities, and to balance institutional objectives with the long-standing perspectives and expectations of a diverse alumni community spanning more than five decades.
Position Summary The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of all marketing and communications initiatives for the Law School. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer at Yeshiva University and the Dean of the law school, the Director will elevate the school's national profile, support student recruitment and alumni engagement, and manage all branding efforts across various platforms.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Strategic Communications & Marketing: Develop and implement an integrated communications and marketing strategy to promote the law school's academic programs, research, and major events to diverse audiences, including prospective students, alumni, and the legal community.
- Brand Management: Oversee and enforce the law school's brand standards across all print and digital materials, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging that reflects the school's values and identity.
- Digital and Web Strategy: Plan and manage the law school's online presence, including content strategy for the website, email marketing campaigns (e.g., newsletters), and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.), using analytics to measure effectiveness.
- Content Creation and Publications: Direct the planning, writing, editing, and design of various electronic and print publications, such as the admissions viewbook, brochures, press releases and the annual edition of Cardozo Life.
- Media and Public Relations: Serve as a primary media contact and manage public relations activities, including coordinating with journalists, writing talking points and speeches for senior leadership, and handling crisis communications.
- Recruitment and Advancement Support: Collaborate with the Admissions and Institutional Advancement/Alumni Relations departments to create targeted campaigns that support recruitment efforts and fundraising initiatives.
- Team Leadership & Management: Supervise and mentor a professional marketing and communications team, manage the departmental budget, and coordinate with external vendors and university-wide communications offices.
- Promoting Faculty Scholarship and other work: Work with Cardozo faculty and outside PR professionals to help them promote their work, develop a media presence and support faculty events and conferences.

Experience & Educational Background:
|
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, and/or a minimum of five years of professional experience in institutional communications or marketing, with preference given to experience in nonprofit educational communications and/or marketing. Experience with law schools and/or legal training is also a plus.

Skills & Competencies:
|
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, web content management systems, graphic design software, and social media strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including the dean’s leadership team, the University Marcom department, external partners and Cardozo faculty, staff, and students.
