The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Pre-Clinical Education at Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine is responsible for the leadership, development, and oversight of the pre-clinical curriculum and simulation-based training that prepares students for clinical patient care. This role ensures that students acquire foundational competencies in operative techniques, clinical procedures, and professional standards prior to entering the clinical environment.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Dental Education, the Director oversees pre-clinical laboratory instruction, simulation activities, and assessment of student competencies while maintaining alignment with the academic mission and educational standards of the dental program. The position works closely with course directors, faculty, and academic leadership to integrate pre-clinical instruction across the curriculum and to support effective teaching methodologies in simulation and laboratory settings. The Director also ensures that pre-clinical learning environments operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with institutional policies and relevant educational standards.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Pre-Clinical Curriculum Leadership: Provide leadership for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the pre-clinical curriculum to ensure students develop foundational competencies in dental procedures, instrumentation, and patient care preparation in alignment with the program’s educational objectives.
- Simulation and Laboratory Instruction Oversight: Direct the delivery of pre-clinical laboratory and simulation-based instruction to ensure students acquire essential psychomotor and clinical preparation skills prior to entering patient care settings.
- Faculty Collaboration and Instructional Support: Work collaboratively with course directors and faculty to coordinate instructional activities, promote effective teaching strategies in simulation and laboratory environments, and support faculty engagement in pre-clinical education.
- Student Competency Assessment: Oversee competency-based assessment of student performance in pre-clinical courses and simulation activities to ensure consistent evaluation of technical skills, clinical judgment, and readiness for progression into clinical training.
- Pre-Clinical Learning Environment Management: Ensure that pre-clinical laboratories and simulation facilities are appropriately equipped, maintained, and organized to support effective student instruction and skill development.
- Resource Allocation and Budget Management: Manage resources associated with pre-clinical operations, including equipment, materials, and laboratory supplies, and oversee budget planning to ensure efficient use of funds, proper maintenance of instructional equipment, and procurement aligned with program needs.
- Compliance, Safety, and Infection Control: Ensure that all pre-clinical instructional environments comply with university policies and applicable safety, infection control, and operational standards relevant to dental education.
- Curriculum Integration and Progression: Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Dental Education, clinical leadership, and course directors to ensure alignment between pre-clinical instruction and subsequent clinical training, supporting a structured transition into patient care.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Participate in ongoing program evaluation and curricular improvement efforts by monitoring educational outcomes and identifying opportunities to strengthen pre-clinical instruction and student preparation.

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution.
Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including patient care, academic teaching, and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education support, faculty practice oversight, and compliance with CODA and institutional accreditation standards.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State.
