Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today’s dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Anesthesia provides leadership and oversight for anesthesia services within the dental school’s clinical environment, ensuring safe and effective administration of anesthesia and sedation used in dental care. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining anesthesia protocols, clinical policies, and training standards that support high-quality patient care while ensuring compliance with institutional policies, state regulations, and accreditation requirements. The Director also oversees anesthesia-related patient safety measures, including monitoring protocols, emergency preparedness, and proper maintenance of equipment and medications used in anesthesia delivery.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Dental Education, the Director collaborates with academic and clinical leadership to integrate anesthesia education into the predoctoral curriculum and clinical training environment. The Director supports faculty and student training in anesthesia administration, pain control, and emergency management, and ensures that educational and clinical practices align with the school’s standards for patient care, clinical competency development, and regulatory compliance.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Anesthesia Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of anesthesia services within the dental school’s clinical facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and high-quality care.
- Protocol Development and Oversight: Develop, implement, and monitor anesthesia protocols and guidelines, ensuring alignment with industry standards and institutional policies.
- Patient Care and Safety: Establish and maintain patient care standards, focusing on safety, pain management, and the effective delivery of anesthesia during clinical procedures.
- Clinical Education and Training: Collaborate with faculty to integrate anesthesia principles and practices into the clinical curriculum, supporting student skill development and knowledge.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all anesthesia activities comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations; lead quality assurance initiatives to monitor and improve care outcomes.
- Faculty and Student Support: Provide guidance and training to faculty and students involved in anesthesia care, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for learning.
- Research and Innovation: Promote and support research initiatives in anesthesia care, contributing to advancements in the field and integrating new practices into the school’s clinical offerings.

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution with advanced training in anesthesia or equivalent certification in dental anesthesia (e.g., Dental Anesthesiology Fellowship).
- Possession of or eligibility for anesthesia/sedation permits in accordance with New York State regulations.
- Experience in anesthesia management with a strong focus on clinical education and patient safety.
- Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
- Clinical experience in anesthesia, with demonstrated experience in teaching, curriculum development, and clinical supervision.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State

- Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements related to anesthesia services.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and clinical staff.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Ability to address challenges proactively, make informed decisions, and adapt to evolving clinical needs.
