Department Summary

The University of Denver’s Living and Learning Communities (LLC) Program prepares students to contribute to the public good by connecting their learning across living, academic, and co-curricular experiences with a cohort of peers. The LLC Program is part of the Office of Public Good Strategy and Research (OPGS&R), whose mission is to realize the University’s public good vision through collaboration for public good discovery.

Position Summary

The LLC Program seeks to hire adjunct instructors for Fall, Winter and Spring quarters of the 2024-2025 academic year to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the LLC program and Mental Health and Wellness Minor. Opportunities depend on department needs. More information about the courses can be found on the Registrar's Office schedule of classes at https://www.du.edu/registrar/course/scheduleofclasses.html. This posting will serve for multiple openings that may arise throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

Essential Functions

  • Teach in the format and schedule for the course (depending on course)
  • Create or adapt an existing course to meet course/program learning outcomes, in partnership with relevant program faculty;
  • Create a course calendar per the quarter system;
  • Create and maintain course Canvas container;
  • Meet with students as needed;
  • Assign papers, exams and other deliverables as appropriate that align with the course learning outcomes;
  • Grade assignments within two weeks;
  • Ensure the course embodies the values and goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion in course learning outcomes, lesson activities, readings, and other assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • Relevant knowledge regarding the course content

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree
  • Previous undergraduate teaching experience

Work Schedule

While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Course Rate

The course rate for this position is $1,265/course credit hour.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, available market information, and course enrollment but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
