The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is the largest and most diverse academic unit at the University of Denver, where students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed at nearly any career in today’s globally connected society. Half of the College’s departments and schools offer master’s or PhD programs.
Position Summary
CAHSS is hiring four (4) Business Coordinators who will performs an array of business, fiscal, and administrative functions across CAHSS’ 22 departments, programs, schools, and centers. Specific projects and processes include expense and fund balance tracking, unit level reporting, purchasing/procurement of goods, recordkeeping, recruitment and hiring of non-benefited employees, and other administrative functions as needed. The position is a member of the CAHSS Business & Operations team, reports directly to the Director of Business and Operations, and will work closely with the College’s Business Officers to support the College. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently under general direction, function well on teams, and provide excellent service to students, faculty, and staff from units across the College and the University.
Essential Functions
Business and Operations Support
- Serve as the primary contact for CAHSS departments on general business operations inquiries and processing of daily transactions in Banner.
- Process requisitions, purchase order updates, vendor registration and invoicing, and direct pays in compliance with financial policies .
- Serve as the assigned units’ budgetary approver for p-card purchases, provide direction for expense reconciliation when needed.
- Manage expenditure tracking and submission within monthly closure deadlines.
- Assist with fund management and spending best practices for a variety of award, gift, and endowed funds as well as deployed annual budget from the university.
- Complete monthly reconciliation of accounts in accordance with CAHSS business practice
- Work from and seek continual process improvement to: College communications, templates, and tracking documents for internal business and operations processes.
- Manage budgets related to materials, supplies, and facilities for departments within CAHSS.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications staff on budgetary needs for student and community programming.
General Administrative Support
- Monitor business email, manage tasks in Outlook, handle office supply ordering.
- Organize and prioritize requests.
- Assist with special projects and/or provide coverage as needed across the College.
- Enforce fiscal and administrative policy among assigned units.
- Support CAHSS’ unit and division leadership with special projects, initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
HR Support
- Support all stages of the employment cycle, including posting, onboarding and separation.
- Support departmental student workers-including drafting and posting of student employment positions, hiring, collaboration with units and with work-study office on payroll issues.
- Assist with a wide range of human resources processes, including hiring and onboarding of non-benefitted staff, adjuncts, and temp positions.
- Post positions, edit positions, provide candidate management for applicants in Pioneer Careers Online as well as PageUp/DUJobs.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management to cross-reference adjunct hires to appropriate courses during submission

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education obtained in other work settings such as the military or non-profit organizations.
- 2-3 years of experience in an office support setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three to five years in an office support setting, preferably in a higher education environment.
- Familiarity with Banner, Concur, or other financial reporting, database, and expense management systems.
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- As this position will support departments across the College, individual(s) must be willing to meet with stakeholder at locations across campus.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
- Ability to sit or stand in front of a room for an extended period of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Option to work remotely from home up to two days per week.

Salary Grade
The salary grade for this position is 8.
Hourly Range:
The hourly range for this position is $25.00-$30.00
