The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is the largest and most diverse academic unit at the University of Denver, where students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed at nearly any career in today’s globally connected society. Half of the College’s departments and schools offer master’s or PhD programs. 

Position Summary

The Executive Director of Enrollment Management provides leadership for recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and other student focused operations within the College. Reporting to the Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Director leads a team comprised of Enrollment Services and Recruitment & Admissions professionals. The Executive Director will collaborate with various academic departments, faculty members, and administrative staff to lead academic and enrollment functions, including but not limited to recruitment, admissions, retention, scheduling, financial aid, and data analysis. The Executive Director must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring the smooth functioning of the college’s academic and enrollment services.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and supervise the Enrollment Management team consisting of 9 team members, emphasizing collaboration with departments and schools in CAHSS, as well as partner with the Business Operations & Marketing & Communication teams within CAHSS to provide comprehensive, integrated support to students and faculty.
  • Lead all aspects of admissions and financial aid operations within CAHSS, including:
    • Strategic leadership of the graduate recruitment and admissions functions of CAHSS, in partnership with academic departments.
    • Support for undergraduate admissions, in partnership with academic departments and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Develop annual and quarterly admissions and financial aid forecasts to support departments in meeting their enrollment goals.
  • Oversee and allocate the College’s scholarship and tuition waiver budget of approximately $8 million.
  • Direct complex projects within enrollment management operations including managing critical timelines, budgets, and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with student affairs to integrate and offer academic support services as part of the onboarding process for new students and continuing students.
  • Develop and implement a tracking and assessment system for student use of support services. 
  • Develop and implement regular training and workshops for academic support services employees.
  • Collaborate with data management constituencies at the college such as Data Coaches and Institutional Research to provide student usage data needed for student success tracking and correlation.
  • Lead CAHSS participation in university-wide enrollment projects including Journey to DU, Fridays@DU, Admit Day, Graduate & Undergraduate Orientation.
  • Partner with campus colleagues in other units such as Undergraduate Admission, OGE, ISSS, Registrar’s office, & Student Success to support academic and enrollment functions of CAHSS.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and basic proofreading ability.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles and practices in the area of college admissions, yield, retention, and financial aid.
  • Understanding of the opportunities and challenges affecting higher education in terms of student recruitment and enrollment management.
  • Strong ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and make recommendations in support of goals.
  • History of performance delivery against student recruitment targets.
  • Ability to manipulate data.
  • Teamwork approach to projects and problem solving. Ability to prioritize tasks and plan projects; time management and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to help students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Ability to work with diverse and underrepresented populations, using an inclusive approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with new software.
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in years of equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role related to enrollment management such as director of recruitment & admissions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of administrative experience working in an office, professional, or military setting.
  • Experience working with college/university enrollment; preference for current/prior experience in CAHSS.
  • Experience with content writing for marketing initiatives.
  • Experience working with Technolutions Slate, Ellucian Banner, or other CRMs.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate
  • As this position will support departments across the College, individual(s) must be willing to meet with stakeholder at locations across campus.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to sit or stand in front of a room for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Option to work remotely up to two days per week.

Salary Grade

The salary grade for this position is 15

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $115,000-$130,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
