Position Summary

The position coordinates the daily Ritchie Center operations responsibilities for the shifts assigned that include: supervision, communication, and completion of assigned responsibilities with shift part-time staff including, but not limited to: set-up/breakdown of venues/programs/events, supervision of venues/programs/events/services, cleaning and organizing of parking/venues/storage spaces/support areas, completion of preventative maintenance/safety/quality tasks, collection of headcounts/feedback/documentation/surveys, and a proactive approach to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment within each of the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports & Wellness venues.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

 Essential Functions
  • Supervise, coordinate, and promote the teamwork of Ritchie Center shift staff (service, facility, program, event) to maximize the customer experience of students, members, and guests within all venues of the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports & Wellness 
  • Knowledge of the emergency response plan and demonstrated ability to coordinate correct responses and completion of the appropriate documentation during accidents and incidents 
  • Understand, demonstrate, and be able to coach Ritchie Center staff in the areas of customer experience management, service above self, and position core responsibilities 
  • Coordinate and complete shift set-up/changeover/teardown of parking, venues, support areas, programs, events, and services 
  • Perform shift tasks including, but not limited to facility access control, hourly headcounts, door checks, crowd management, enforcement of guidelines and procedures, facility/equipment inspections, housekeeping and stick level inspections, customer service issue resolution 
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and monitor proper equipment use; accurately follow directions and diagrams; ensure the completion of responsibilities in a timely fashion 
  • Complete training and regularly utilize the following software programs: 
  • RecTrac, iEBMS, MS Teams, SubItUp, and Connect2 
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of and enforce all guidelines and procedures 
  • Handle conflict or stressful situations in a calm, professional manner and help provide solutions to situations.  
  • Attend all staff meetings, in-services, and trainings 
  • Be an active representative of the Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness, & Recreation at all times 

Supervision & Training

Operations Supervisors will receive extensive training and continuous coaching throughout their employment. They will be provided with onboarding documents and multiple training shifts. Operations Supervisors will have regular meetings with their supervisors to focus on professional development and training needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must hold current certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid  
  • At least one academic quarter of KMCWR employment with a positive review is preferred, but not required 
  • Flexible schedule; hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and summer if  available (minimum of 7 weekday hours or two shifts per week)  
  • The ability to effectively monitor and communicate to members, guests, and staff 
  • Punctuality, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines 
  • Good oral and written communication skills; strong attention to detail 
  • Weekends scheduled on a rotating basis (not included in 7 weekday hours) 
Required Qualifications
  • Current Employee for the Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness, & Recreation 
  • Valid CPR/FA/AED Certification 
  • Ritchie Center Safety Training 
  • University of Denver Minors Training 

Work Schedule

  • Weekends scheduled on a rotating basis (not included in 7 weekday hours) 
Working Environment
 
The employee works in an active sports and fitness environment.  Interruptions occur frequently and the stress level is moderate.  
 
Physical Requirements
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk four flights of stairs

Hourly Range

The hourly range for the position is $20.00-$22.00.
