Position Summary

The University Honors Program offers several 1- and 2-credit Honors Seminars.  These classes are offered in all quarters except summer, and we hire instructors for them on a rolling basis.

The DU Honors Program cultivates student capacity for original academic inquiry and creative exploration. Our students emerge as self-directed learners, encouraged to ask new questions and pursue their curiosities – both within the classroom and beyond.

Every year, the program recruits a diverse cohort of creative thinkers who want to go beyond the requirements – whether they were part of an Honors program in high school or not.

The three pillars of the Honors Program are our curriculum, our community, and our contributions to original research, scholarship, and creative activities.

The University Honors Program offers several 1- and 2-credit Honors Seminars throughout the academic year.

HNRS 2000 and HNRS 3000 are 1-credit courses that meet once per week for 50 minutes and are required for Honors students in their second and final years, respectively. These courses have standard content focused on Honors advising, whole personness, mentoring, and future planning. Several sections of each are offered each quarter except for summer.

HNRS 24xx are 2-credit courses that meet once per week for 110 minutes. They are intended for students of all majors. The topics explored are diverse; they are expected to explore engaging themes that provide students with additional intellectual breadth and a thought-provoking break from intensive studies in a major. Several different sections are offered each quarter except for summer.

HNRS 24xx classes require approval of the Honors Council.  More information on submitting a proposal for Honors Council approval can be found here: https://academicaffairs.du.edu/honors/faculty-resources

The Registrar’s schedule of classes is posted here: https://www.du.edu/registrar/registration/how-register/find-courses

These classes are offered in all quarters except summer, and we hire on a rolling basis.
