Position Summary

Dean Michael McGuire is stepping away from the deanship as of June 30, 2025.  Starting on July 1, 2025, the University of Denver will be appointing an Interim Dean of PSC.  Individuals who are interested in being considered for appointment as Interim Dean of PSC, effective July 1, 2025 (until such time as a new, permanent Dean is appointed), please submit your materials to this internal posting.  It is anticipated that this interim role will be for one academic year.

Essential Functions

The Interim Dean will be responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the College.  Qualities that we are looking for in the Interim Dean include:

  • Ability to manage a complex organization while articulating a clear vision and goals for the future.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain strong faculty, staff, and student collegial relations.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience as a leader, with successive levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience with planning and budget development and oversight.
  • Ability to use analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to manage conflict.
  • Knowledge of the broader university systems and an ability to work effectively with colleagues in other units.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Current DU Faculty Member

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for an extended period
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus 

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $60-000-$70,000 and a full course buy-out for the time the individual is acting as interim dean.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
