About the role
In this role, you will create daily content, oversee social media engagement across City departments, and ensure alignment with the City’s values. Your expertise in digital media tools and trends will help enhance the City’s online presence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement engaging social media strategies and digital communications and marketing campaigns that creatively support the City’s Corporate Communications and Marketing Strategy, with a focus on advancing our Council Plan and Clever and Creative 30-year vision.
- Directly manage the City’s primary corporate social media channels – including creating, publishing and monitoring daily/weekly content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Linked In, and developing innovative solutions to sensitive and complex issues.
- Effectively engage with internal stakeholders to oversee all other City-run social media channels, develop and ensure compliance with organisational processes and policies relating to social media, provide in- house training and advice as required, and provide regular reports on all such activities.
- Organise weekly rosters for team members involved in out-of-hours social media management.
- Monitor relevant social media trends and technologies, and develop regular reports and adjust strategies accordingly.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a degree or diploma in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, event management, or a related field, along with relevant experience. Alternatively, a combination of a lower qualification and extensive experience will be considered.
Essential Experience:
- Highly developed written and verbal communication and marketing skills suitable to local government audiences (i.e. the ability to prepare clearly written documents such as media releases, media briefings, reports, positive stories and other content).
- Demonstrated understanding and proficient hands-on use of innovative social media and digital content management, applicable for local government and its followers.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders on sensitive and complicated communications projects.
- High level skills in digital communications, including social media, digital photography and video, and web content authoring and management.
- An ability to write clear, engaging plain English documents, under pressure.
- A capacity to work out-of-hours (including on weekends) as required.
- Current WWCC (employee).
