About the role
There are two positions available (Temporary Part Time and Casual). In these roles, you will work with the maternal child health nurses to promote the health, development and wellbeing of infants, young children and their care givers by providing advice and guidance to families, with the aim of helping parents build new connections and making their parenting journey the best experience it can be.

Work type: Temporary Part Time (0.7FTE) through to March 2026 & Casual
Classification: Band 4 Commencing at $71,647pa plus super (pro rata)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the delivery of the Maternal and Child Health Program by undertaking direct service delivery to parents and coordination of parenting groups.
  • Develop Health Education displays at one or more Maternal and Child Health centres.
  • Create and maintain a safe environment in the MCH centres and participate in safety checks, follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control and contribute to the management of Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Undertake administrative duties to support efficient and effective service delivery to families attending the Maternal and Child Health Service.

About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background Early Childhood Education or a Nursing background, working with new borns and infants. You will be comfortable liaising with a diverse range of people, have a professional approach to your work, with high levels of empathy, innovation and a safety first mindset.

Essential Experience:

  • Sound knowledge of the support needs of infants, young children and their families
  • Knowledge of normal development of infants and children and the ability to recognise deviations from normal that need to be reported to the MCH nurse
  • An understanding of evidence-based parenting programs and interventions for normal infant and child behaviours
  • Diploma level qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care or similar
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process.
  • Candidates will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 to be eligible for this role.
