About the role
In this role, you will provide expert technical advice, manage key projects, drive successful grant applications, and lead communication, promotion, and reporting of our sustainability achievements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and review of environment and sustainability strategies, policies, and guidelines
  • Drive the implementation of Council’s Environmental Management Strategy across operations and services
  • Manage carbon reduction feasibility studies, programs, and energy audits for corporate facilities
  • Design and deliver capacity-building programs for key sustainability stakeholders
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and lead annual sustainability reporting
  • Identify and apply for external funding, grants, and relevant sustainability awards
  • Build strategic partnerships to support sustainability initiatives
  • Provide expert advice to department leaders and stakeholders

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in the field of environment and sustainability and professional experience in development and implementation of strategic plans, policies and guidelines.

Essential Experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices related to environment and sustainability planning is desirable.
  • Skilled in developing sustainability strategies, policies, guidelines, and impactful reports.
  • Proven expertise in environmental and sustainability strategy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent planning and time management to deliver on deadlines and priorities.
  • Track record of driving cross-functional collaboration to achieve measurable sustainability outcomes.
