About the role
In this role, you will lead a program of work that will enable the successful delivery of the City’s key Strategy & Performance initiatives. Critical to this role is the ability to guide stakeholders through the successful delivery of projects that will realise the City’s strategic objectives, whilst adhering to specified scope, budget, and timelines.

Classification: Band 8 ($115,035 - $127,911)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the planning and delivery of Strategy & Performance focused projects.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to communicate the project outcomes and overseeing the design and execution of project plans ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Coordinating project activities and managing the production of project and workstream plans.
  • Planning and delivering stakeholder engagement activities to develop effective project working relationships and be a primary point of contact for stakeholders.
  • Accurately forecasting, managing, and deploying project resources, monitoring project expenditures, tracking costs, effectively managing budgets, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Collaborating with procurement teams to source and manage contractors, suppliers, and other resources necessary for project execution.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and evaluating risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints throughout the project lifecycle, identifying, and implementing solutions or strategies to mitigate their impact, and escalate issues as required.
  • Preparing regular progress reports and project documentation, including project plans, status updates, risk assessments, and financial reports to support the review process and benefit capture.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, including contracts, permits, and other relevant documentation.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience as a Project Manager with experience in establishing, maintaining, and positively leveraging effective stakeholder relationships in an environment with complex internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in project management or other relevant qualification with experience in a similar position.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and best practices (including Prince2).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost control.
  • Project management experience in transformation or business improvement projects.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication, negotiation, presentation skills, both written and verbal.
