About the role
In this role, you will join the Legal, Integrity & Procurement Department, which offers timely and pragmatic advice on a variety of issues. Emphasizing collegiality and collaboration, the department strives to implement best practices in legal, risk management, integrity, and procurement across the City. As the Lead Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Officer, you will take on a leadership position, actively contributing to the department's positive leadership and cultural goals while fostering a cohesive and high-performing team environment. .

Work type: Permanent full-time
Classification: Senior Professional Level $144,000 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  •  Develop a clear, inspiring vision for the team's future, formulate goals to achieve it, and communicate it effectively to lead the department.
  • Develop departmental capabilities to meet the requirements of its future strategic goals.
  • Develop and integrate the department’s initiatives and annual business plans in line with the Directorate strategy, balancing value for our community and customers within the financial, social, environmental and resource constraints.
  • Engage and build strategic networks and partnerships with key stakeholders internally and throughout the industry to drive collaboration.
  • Actively engage and motivate the Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Team in a positive and constructive way to achieve Team, Department and Organizational and objectives.
  • Manage all aspects of the department’s resources and budget planning for effective operations; regularly tracking and reporting on performance against departmental goals.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable senior leadership experience along with extensive experience in procurement and sourcing management, ideally within a public sector or government context.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies and managing large, complex sourcing projects.
  • Strong understanding of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • A tertiary qualification in procurement, law, commerce or related field and significant professional experience in procurement planning and contract management in a comparable organization.
  • Proven track of leading teams through change ensuring strong stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
