About the role

In this role, you will efficiently deliver a diverse range of aquatic programs and services at Leisurelink/Kardinia Aquatic Centre. You will apply your comprehensive knowledge of technical and operational aspects of program delivery, manage a large team of permanent and casual staff, and oversee the strategic development, planning, and implementation of health, fitness, and educational activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and direction to program coordinators, supervisors, and staff in the areas of aquatic, educational, health, fitness, and recreational programs.
  • Manage both facilities aquatics areas under the principles of the guidelines for safe pool operations.
  • Manage both facilities plantroom operations and facility maintenance and cleaning.
  • Responsible for the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of program activities undertaken in the aquatics area.
  • Development of the aquatics program budget in conjunction with the Centre Manager for both facilities. 
  • Continually review and evaluate programs and services with the purpose of continually improving performance.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced people leader with an understanding of the operations of a Leisure facility. Previous experience in an administrative environment and exposure to managing budgets are highly regarded.  You will have strong attention to detail, enjoy finding solutions to complex issues, with the confidence to liaise with a diverse range of people.

  • Experience in the development and implementation of projects, services and programs.
  • Good understanding of plantroom operation and maintenance and cleaning systems.
  • Broad knowledge of Leisure Centre Industry programs and trends including Learn to Swim program, other aquatic programs and plantroom operations.
  • An ability to gain cooperation and assistance from users, members of the public and other employees in the operation of the centre.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others and resolve conflict.
  • Tertiary qualification in Sport and Recreation or similar field or lesser qualifications and substantial experience.
  • Current Working with Children Check (Employee).
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
