About the role
Play a key role in shaping sustainable urban growth by supporting stormwater planning, developing standards, and ensuring projects meet community and environmental goals. Permanent Full Time (Part time and job share will be considered).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical advice and review stormwater management plans, strategies, and development proposals.
  • Support the development of coordinated stormwater infrastructure planning and standards.
  • Assist in preparing policies, guidelines, and strategies for integrated water management and floodplain management.
  • Liaise with developers, consultants, and internal teams to ensure compliance with the City’s stormwater objectives.
  • Investigate drainage options and provide high-level cost estimates to inform planning decisions.
  • Contribute to sustainable urban development that balances social, environmental, and financial outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role, you’re a motivated and solutions-focused civil engineer who’s passionate about sustainable urban development and community outcomes. You enjoy applying your technical expertise to real-world challenges and collaborating with a range of stakeholders to deliver practical, forward-thinking stormwater solutions.

Ideal Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (civil engineering or similar) allowing future eligibility for engineering registration in line with the Victorian registration scheme
  • Some experience in municipal engineering, particularly related to stormwater management and land development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to translate technical information into plain English.
  • Good conceptual skills with experience in conducting research, analysing data and synthesising results into tangible plans, guidelines, policies, strategies and other outcomes.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check (funded by the City).
