About the role
In this role, you will lead and coordinate the Unsealed Roads crew to deliver high-quality road and footpath maintenance across multiple sites. Reporting to the Works Supervisor, you will provide on-site leadership, ensure safety and efficiency, and support your team to achieve maximum productivity.
Work type: Permanent Full Time.
Classification: Band 4 Commencing at $73,796 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise and provide direction to team members, plant operators, and contractors on-site.
- Coordinate daily maintenance operations, including the efficient use of plant, materials, and equipment.
- Record and report daily outputs, repairs, and works completed.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure all worksites comply with Council health and safety policies and traffic management requirements.
- Contribute to team and operational improvements while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
About you
To be successful in this role, you are a hands-on leader with experience in unsealed road maintenance, plant operation, and traffic management. You thrive in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, providing clear direction to your team while ensuring safety, productivity, and high-quality outcomes. Strong organisational and communication skills, integrity, and a commitment to excellent service define how you work.
Essential Experience:
- Current Victorian Drivers licence and Current Victorian Heavy Rigid licence.
- Accreditation in: Basic worksite traffic management and Traffic controlling (stop/slow bat) and previous experience in working with excavating machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to play a leading role in the supervision and direction of maintenance works being performed by the team.
- Ability to order and estimate quantities.
- Ability to operate various items of plant and equipment.
- Ability to perform manual work including lifting of weights in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
