About the role
In these roles, you will provide both administrative and technical support to a number of stakeholders in the preparation and processing of Planning Permit applications.  This also includes planning and property information and various detail on the processes to achieve compliance with the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme.

Work type: Permanent, full-time positions.
Classification: Band 4, $73,796 pa plus super.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the process, of development and land use inquiries, planning applications and other planning information within a team environment.
  • Assist in issuing town planning permits to ensure timely, coordinated service delivery.
  • Work with government departments and the internal stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
  • Prepare clear, professional correspondence on Council decisions and public enquiries.
  • Provide up-to-date planning advice and exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain accurate administrative and information systems within the team.
  • Offer guidance on the preservation and maintenance of heritage buildings.
  • Help develop and refine systems and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and the community, promoting compliance with laws and policies.
  • Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated strong administration experience.
  • Well-developed analytical, investigative, interpretative and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time to achieve targets within a set timetable.
  • Ability to manage change and be innovative.
  • Some town planning experience is desirable.
  • Some Local Government Experience is desirable.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
