About the role
In this role, you will support the delivery of the City’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Strategy by providing expert guidance, promoting best practice, and building strong relationships that contribute to a safe, healthy and positive workplace.

Classification: Band 6 Commencing at $95,760 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting and delivering Health, Safety & Wellbeing initiatives aligned to organisational strategies, and supporting continuous improvement in safety and wellbeing practices.
  • Providing subject matter advice to leaders and stakeholders on OHS compliance, policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Supporting incident investigations, OHS audits, and associated reporting to ensure risks are identified, assessed, and addressed.
  • Assisting with the mentoring and support of Health and Safety Representatives and contributing to an effective OHS committee program.
  • Maintaining strong relationships and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders to support safe and healthy work outcomes.
  • Supporting wellbeing programs and, where required, assisting the Injury Management team to ensure appropriate support for injured workers.
  • Working collaboratively with the HSW Advisor and department leaders to deliver business and strategic plans, including monitoring and reporting on HSW Strategy progress.
  • Managing workload effectively while coordinating with others to meet timelines, balance stakeholder needs, and drive positive team culture and organisational outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong foundation in occupational health and safety, the ability to build trusted relationships, and the confidence to provide practical, compliant, and collaborative safety support across a diverse organisation.

Essential Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety, or a lesser formal qualification combined with relevant experience.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, support, and collaborate effectively across varied workgroups.
  • Well-developed problem-solving abilities and sound judgement when working with diverse stakeholders and complex issues.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to deliver guidance, reporting, and updates that support safe work outcomes.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management capability, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance codes, and applicable Australian Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a broad stakeholder group across different services, functions, and industries.
