A bit about the role

We’re seeking a passionate and strategic Healthy Communities Lead to drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of Casey’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP).

In this role, you’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify key health challenges, shape innovative prevention initiatives, and influence policy that improves community wellbeing. You’ll play a key part in building organisational capacity and embedding health considerations into strategic planning, policy, and advocacy across the organisation.

Enjoy a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO) as part of a 40-hour work week, along with flexible work arrangements and work-from-home opportunities that support work-life balance.

What you’ll deliver

  • Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of key projects within the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
  • Identify health and wellbeing challenges using available data and community engagement feedback and contribute to policy development.
  • Collaboratively design innovative, sustainable, and evidence-informed programs and policies that address community needs.
  • Build relationships and influence a variety of stakeholders and audiences, including internal staff across divisions and levels, external bodies and agencies, and the community.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for collaboration and partnerships that align with organisational and health policy strategic directions.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of interventions to improve community outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree in public health, health promotion, or related field with relevant experience; or higher qualification with less experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy or policy development, preferably with working knowledge of Local, State, and Federal policy and legislative contexts.
  • Sound understanding of the social and commercial determinants of health and the associated planning levers that support improved health outcomes (some familiarity with urban planning will be highly regarded).
  • Excellent analytical skills to identify risks, challenges, opportunities, and solutions within a complex policy context.
  • Proven experience in developing innovative community-based projects or solutions to support enhanced social outcomes.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
