A bit about the role

We are seeking a dedicated Administration Officer to join our Rates and Valuations team. The primary responsibilities of this role include collecting outstanding debts with efficiency and sensitivity while offering support to ratepayers.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Rates and Valuations team, adhering to statutory regulations and council policies. Additionally, administrative support will be provided to ensure the department functions effectively. What you’ll deliver

  • Assist with processing and monitoring of payment plan schedules with ratepayers and Sundry Debtor Account holders.
  • Maintain Council’s database notations file regarding payment plans and legal action.
  • Ensure the preparation of relevant accounts and correspondence resulting from rates and sundry debtor accounting adjustments, including documents for legal action for recovery of overdue accounts.
  • Assist with the recording, administration, and verification of pensioner rate rebates.
  • Process Acquisition, Disposition and Change of Address details.
  • Prepare duplicate rate notices and letters to new owners.
  • Maintain NAR database including the linking/delinking/merging of names and/or addresses.
  • Process and issue Land Information Certificates.
  • Assist with the processing of Direct Debit Applications.
  • Attend to telephone and personal enquiries and provide sound and accurate advice to solicitors and members of the public.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated skills and experience commensurate with the requirements of the role.
  • Ability to community and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience working a high-volume administrative role that requires effective time management and attention to detail.
  • Excellent MS Office skills including experience in database management.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
