A bit about the role
As our Advocacy and Partnerships Advisor, you’ll lead the development of frameworks and strategies that strengthen Council’s approach to partnerships, sponsorships and advocacy. You’ll play a key role in building alignment across services, improving governance and accountability, and driving advocacy initiatives that influence positive change for our community.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the organisation, engage with key stakeholders, and shape how Council delivers on its strategic priorities.
What you’ll deliver
- Develop and implement a governance framework to track, manage and oversee partnerships and sponsorships across Council.
- Lead strategic advocacy planning, including the creation of annual advocacy initiatives aligned to Council’s goals and planning cycle.
- Review and strengthen existing sponsorship and partnership processes to improve transparency, accountability and service outcomes.
- Support the development and delivery of advocacy campaigns, including content creation, stakeholder communications and media monitoring.
- Build internal capability by providing advice and training on partnership governance and advocacy best practice.
What you’ll bring
- A qualification in Public Policy, Public Relations or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience in advocacy, government relations or strategic communications, ideally within the public or not-for-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of government processes and political landscapes at the local, state and federal level.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with experience in developing submissions, strategic documents and stakeholder messaging.
- Ability to build trusted relationships, influence stakeholders and deliver advocacy outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
