A bit about the role
You will design, manage, and deliver high-quality public open spaces and streetscapes across Casey that are contemporary, safe, welcoming, and built to stand the test of time.
Ensure all design projects and contracted works are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with established procedures, standards, and best practices.
What you’ll deliver
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of high-quality, safe, and inclusive public open spaces, streetscapes, and park projects through the preparation of masterplans, precinct plans, and design policies.
- Manage complex landscape architecture projects from concept to completion, including stakeholder engagement, consultant coordination, cost estimation, and contract administration.
- Oversee and guide internal teams, providing supervision and direction to Landscape Architects while fostering collaboration across departments to ensure design excellence and alignment with strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance and quality assurance by evaluating landscape plans, monitoring contractor performance, and upholding OH&S standards, sustainability principles, and long-term maintenance considerations.
- Engage with the community and stakeholders, facilitating consultation processes and preparing reports, funding submissions, and policy recommendations to support innovative and responsive urban design outcomes.
What you’ll bring
- Qualifications & Experience: Tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design, or substantial relevant experience in public realm design and delivery, including stakeholder engagement and contract administration.
- Design & Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in developing landscape plans, masterplans, detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates; proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
- Project & Contract Management: Advanced ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects and contracts, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Strategic & Holistic Thinking: Knowledge of design theories and methodologies, with the ability to think holistically and apply strategic influence to achieve outcomes.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent report writing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with contractors, residents, and internal teams.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check,
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
