A bit about the role
As a Cyber Security Technical Analyst at City of Casey, you’ll be at the forefront of protecting our people, systems, and data. This hands-on role blends technical expertise, analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving to continuously improve our cyber security posture.
From configuring cutting-edge Microsoft security tools to responding to real-time threats, you’ll play a key role in keeping our digital environment secure and resilient. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, helping to drive awareness, implement best practices, and build a culture of security.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a forward-thinking council that values innovation, automation, and continuous improvement, while staying one step ahead of emerging threats, including AI-driven risks.
What you’ll deliver
- Design, implementation, and continuous improvement of core cyber security tools, systems, and processes.
- Timely detection, triage, investigation, and response to security threats and incidents.
- Proactive system hardening and security configuration across endpoints, servers, and cloud environments.
- Clear reporting and actionable insights on key cyber risk indicators, incidents, and compliance metrics.
- Effective collaboration with internal stakeholders to uplift cyber security awareness and maturity across the organisation.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in cyber security operations, including threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft security tools such as Intune, Defender, SCCM, and Azure Security Centre.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk identification and automation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. SC-200, CompTIA, ISC2) and a commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with emerging threats and technologies.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
