About the Role

The City of Casey is one of Victoria’s fastest‑growing and most diverse municipalities. As our economy grows and evolves, ensuring local skills align with industry needs is critical to supporting sustainable employment, business growth and local jobs for our residents.

We are seeking a strategic and outcomes‑focused individual to join Council’s Economic Development team and lead key initiatives that strengthen the connection between industry, education and employment providers and government. With a primary focus on jobs, skills and pathways, this senior role will play a vital part in ensuring Casey’s workforce is prepared for jobs now and into the future.

Reporting to the Principal Economic Development Officer, you will drive workforce development initiatives, champion equitable and inclusive employment practices, and build strong partnerships with industry and key stakeholders. You will also contribute to a broader range of economic development projects and priorities, working collaboratively across Council to support business growth, investment and local employment outcomes.

With a strong focus on industry engagement, facilitation and project delivery, you will help create practical, place‑based economic and workforce outcomes that benefit Casey’s businesses and local jobseekers.

Key Deliverables include: 

  • Working closely with local businesses and industry groups to understand current and emerging workforce needs
  • Strengthening and leveraging partnerships with education, training and employment organisations to deliver aligned workforce development outcomes
  • Coordinating, monitoring and delivering key projects under Council’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Federation University and Chisholm Institute
  • Coordinating and facilitating workforce and skills initiatives, industry networks and forums that support collaboration and knowledge‑sharing
  • Supporting equitable and inclusive employment pathways for Casey residents through collaboration, advocacy and placed-based initiatives
  • Providing expert advice, insights and evidence‑based recommendations to Council, partners and the community to inform decision‑making
  • Monitoring trends, evaluating outcomes and continuously improving initiatives to maximise impact  

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects within economic development, workforce development or jobs and skills‑related portfolios
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between industry demand, skills development, education and employment pathways
  • Proven ability to build, manage and sustain effective partnerships across government, industry and education sectors
  • Highly developed facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience analysing labour market and economic data and translating insights into practical, place‑based initiatives
  • Sound project management capability, including planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation
  • Agile and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively in an evolving role and respond to changing priorities and organisational needs
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check.
