A bit about the role
The Communications and Engagement Advisor will provide advice and assistance to Council and its service units on planning, implementing, communicating, and evaluating engagement activities.
You will continue to embed best practice community engagement through the promotion of Council’s Community Engagement Policy.
What you’ll deliver
- Coordinate and embed Casey Conversations as Council’s online engagement platform across the organisation, including undertaking regular training for users.
- Facilitate community engagement activities as required both in person and online across a range of channels e.g. focus groups, community forums, workshops, surveys.
- Undertake recruitment drives and oversee the establishment of a Casey Community Panel that can be accessed for deliberative engagement opportunities and is representative of the Casey community demographics.
- Develop customer focused communication strategies that deliver on engagement goals and objectives and coordinate and deliver communications campaigns from conception through to launch.
- Provide advice and guidance on the best communications approach to meet campaign objectives successfully.
- Develop content for campaigns and overall Communications Strategy, including for dm/edm, web content, editorial collateral, social media, and publications.
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations, or a diploma with relevant work experience; or a lesser qualification with relevant work skills; or relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the position.
- International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate in Engagement
- Experience in devising and implementing community engagement strategies in a diverse service orientated organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing effective written communications for a broad range of stakeholders and across various communication channels.
- Experience in communicating engagement opportunities to the community and
- stakeholders.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
