The Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese is looking for a skilled, contemporary and passionate Secondary Religious Education Teacher to be part of our school community and enrich the lives of our students.

Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and shares in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic world view. It is a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church.

Key focus areas

The Secondary Religious Education Teacher will fit the following criteria:

-Demonstrate understanding of the curriculum and the Theology by which it is underpinned, by knowing key concepts, skills, pedagogy, subject specific literacy and language and current issues pertaining to Religious Education.

-Teachers are able to critically select each of these appropriate to each student's stage of development and challenges students to be witnesses of faith by providing them appropriate activities in formation.

-Teachers of Religious Education plan for and implement effective learning and teaching by negotiating with students to develop individual, explicit, challenging and achievable learning goals.

-This teacher designs conceptually coherent learning programmes using research evidence and appropriate teaching strategies.

-Analyses and evaluates a student's learning by using a range of strategies for providing feedback in relation to the student's current and future learning.

-Teachers of Religious Education are foremost a Witness to Faith. They are committed to the continual improvement of their teaching practice by using professional teaching standards and key educational and Church documents to evaluate regularly their professional knowledge, practice and engagement. The Religious Education teacher takes opportunities for personal professional learning and regular formation for mission.

The Organisation

Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 80 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney. 

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment including the completion of a National Police Check, retention of a valid Working with Children Check and adoption and compliance with CSPD'S Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct When Working With Students and Children.

CSPD promotes the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
