We are seeking a Test Technician to join our World Championship- Winning Team here at Brixworth. Your role will include undertake the day-to-day operation and maintenance of both Production and Development Test Facilities (Rigs and Dynamometers) as determined by the needs of the business, ensuring a professional service is delivered at all times.

If you're successful in this role, you'll…

  • Operate a selection of both Low and High Specification Test Rigs/Dynamometers, unsupervised, in line with established best practices
  • Load and remove various types of components and configuring Test Cells to conduct both basic and complex tests (Development tests)
  • Carry out routine Test Requests by following established processes and procedures
  • Resolve any problems using available resources
  • Set up and run complex development tests without a procedure and defining the new test procedures, applying existing best practice principles (via clear and coherent note making) as the test programme progresses.
  • Support the construction of rigs/frames/sub-assemblies for test work to appropriate procedures, including:
    • Construction of frames – assembling Rexroth-type frames, cutting and assembling framework using the appropriate hand tools
    • Connection of pipework – connecting, removing, constructing and routing of low pressure pipework through Rigs, Dynamometers, Sub-assemblies and Engines
    • Location of suitable mechanical fittings (nuts, bolts, staublii fittings) – Checking the specification, locating fittings from the General and Test Operations Stores

  • Configuring and running test control systems

Have experience of…

  • Working in a powertrain testing environment operating test rigs and dyno
  • Constructing rigs, frames and sub-assemblies
  • Developing processes and procedures
  • Working effectively both individually and within a team

Demonstrate knowledge of…

  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles
  • Internal combustion engines and hybrid systems
  • Health and Safety procedures associated with a test environment
  • PUMA software
  • Microsoft Excel

Hold these qualifications…

  • Apprenticeship in relevant engineering area (or equivalent experience)
  • HNC or other equivalent engineering qualifications (Mechanical or Electrical)
