About the role

The Associate Director, Business Systems brings extensive and specialist knowledge of Business Systems and an understanding of the complexities of the higher education environment. The role is recognised as a principal specialist in the development, management, and optimisation of business systems and technologies that support Deakin’s administrative, academic, and operational functions. This role involves aligning Digital systems with the university’s strategic goals and ensuring the smooth operation of systems used by staff, faculty, and students. It leads and motivates a team of professionals to collaborate and deliver outstanding advice and services to our customers.

The role reports to Director, Systems and Solutions and provides advice on issues of a strategic nature.

As the Associate Director, Business Systems, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Provide guidance and support to team members in delivering strategic initiatives, ensuring their growth and development.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with Deakin’s goals and future needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise business systems to support efficient processes across administrative, academic, and operational areas.
  • Partner with Business owners to manage the selection, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and other key platforms to ensure that critical business systems are reliable, secure, and available to support the needs of users. Manage relationships with software vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee the procurement of systems and services.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of digital projects related to business systems, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the university’s needs. Collaborate with key stakeholders across the university to understand their needs and ensure Digital projects deliver value.              

 

To be successful, you’ll have

  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with appointment at level
  • Extensive experience conceptualising, developing and implementing contemporary solutions, strategies and services to achieve a large organisation’s objectives in business systems.
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary relevant discipline practices.
  • Experience aligning technology with institutional goals, ensuring efficient operations, and supporting a large organisation to manage critical business processes through robust and effective systems.
