Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Advancement for Pamplin College of Business and the Assistant Vice President for University Relations, the Director of Communications and Marketing will plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive communications and marketing program for the Pamplin College of Business, and will align those activities with university wide communications, marketing and branding initiatives. The director will have a strong record of progressive experience in today's communications fields, which includes evidence of strong writing and editing, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and marketing skills; proficiency in using word processing, image processing, content management system, and social media tools; must also have a strong understanding of effective graphic design and branding principles and the use of the Internet as a medium of communication; ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment. This position will work collaboratively with the unit's recruiting and undergraduate program teams, and expanded campus programs, including those in the greater Washington D.C. metro area, to provide information to prospective undergraduate, graduate and current students, positioning the college to attract more students and enhancing effectiveness of student retention efforts. This position will work collaboratively with the members of the unit's advancement team, and team members in the D.C. metro area, to pursue and promote the overall institutional goals related to communications, fundraising, and alumni engagement.| |Pamplin College of Business' degree offerings enjoy solid reputations. The undergraduate program, the college's largest, is ranked 45th by U.S. News and World Report (2019). The parttime MBA program housed in the greater Washington D.C. metro area was ranked 17th by U.S. News (2019) up from 46th five years ago. The Master of Information Technology program, offered in collaboration with the College of Engineering, was ranked second by U.S. News (2018). Pamplin also enjoys several other top 10 specialty rankings.
Bachelor's degree and relevant experience, or Master's degree.||Ability to define goals and objectives, identify target audiences, and develop and implement strategic plans to accomplish and measure progress towards communications goals.||Demonstrated experience in communications or marketing.||Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and evaluate a comprehensive communications program.
Experience in a higher education, independent school, or nonprofit environment.||Strong skills using technology in the workplace; familiarity with content management systems, web platforms and social media.||Demonstrated experience leading people, either as a supervisor, a colleague collaborating with others, or both.||Experience working with alumni engagement initiatives.||Experience working with a variety of creative communications, data analytics, email management, and web content management software platforms.
