Job Description

The Center for Business Analytics (CBA) is an exciting center in Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business developing next-generation business analytics leaders. CBA is a driving force for the creation of collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and corporate leaders to advance best practices for analytics education and research. Additionally, CBA serves as Virginia Tech’s leading point of contact for industry partners interested in analytics and will play a key role in the new Global Business and Analytics Complex (GBAC).
We are seeking dynamic, entrepreneurial-minded applicants for a professional faculty position as Director dedicated to teaching, student engagement, and corporate outreach.
Responsibilities include teaching in the Master of Science in Business
Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics (MSBA-BA) program; supervising and evaluating capstone analytics projects for MSBA-BA students; interfacing with corporate capstone sponsors; and soliciting new capstone projects from prospective sponsors.
The candidate will provide additional program support activities such as interviewing prospective MSBA-BA candidates; mentoring MSBA-BA students, coaching graduate students in improving their communication skills when writing resumes, cover letters, consulting reports, and giving business presentations; and maintaining strategic relationships with corporate sponsors to maintain and enhance financial support of CBA research and academic activities.
The candidate will report to CBA’s Executive Director and work collaboratively with colleagues from the Pamplin College of Business, other Virginia Tech Colleges, and University Relations to enhance the reputation of CBA and its programs.

Required Qualifications

•A Master’s degree or PhD in business or a technical field
•Excellent communication skills and proven training / teaching ability
•Proven leadership or management experience
•Strong public speaking / presentation skills
•Proven customer interface skills in a project execution role, business development role, or both
•Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

•Prior senior leadership or executive leadership
•Experience planning, executing, and evaluating corporate and/or capstone projects
•Industry/business experience in consulting / government contracting, project management, or business intelligence and analytics
•Project management experience
•PMP Certification
•Skills with specific analytics software or tools typically used in industry
•General management experience
