Job Description

This position provides marketing and recruitment support for professional master’s degrees, graduate certificates, and other programs for the Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability within Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment. The senior manager of marketing and recruitment is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan for marketing and communications within the Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability to meet program goals for recruiting and enrolling graduate students. The marketing and recruitment senior manager will provide leadership and oversight for all marketing and communications efforts and channels and work closely with the program directors and coordinators to generate and funnel prospective student leads. The individual filling this position will use experience and knowledge of current and effective marketing strategies and channels to develop and implement holistic and specific marketing communications strategies. Key responsibilities will include developing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan, managing a digital advertising program, developing and editing written content and coordinating additional content (graphics, photography, etc.) to execute a variety of digital and print communications (ads, emails, web content, blogs, social media content, print materials, etc.), ensuring consistent brand messaging and adherence to university and AP style guidelines, and representing the center at in-person and virtual recruitment opportunities such as graduate school fairs, career fairs, and information sessions. Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, English, business, public relations, or a related/relevant area.
• Demonstrated professional experience in marketing, advertising, and/or sales across multiple marketing channels, including, but not limited to, digital marketing and social media.
• Demonstrated experience and success in digital campaigns, both paid and organic search, especially search engine marketing and social media, to generate sales/recruitment leads.
• Demonstrated ability to research, write, and edit original content for advertising, print, web, emails, and social media.
• Demonstrated experience with computer applications and tools, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office products and website content management systems.
• Demonstrated experience working independently and in a team setting.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment while being highly organized and attentive to detail.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating and building productive working relationships.
• Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholders to manage expectations regarding competing priorities and deliverables.
• Demonstrated dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and a supportive and healthy organizational culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• A master’s degree in communications, marketing, English, business, public relations, or a related/relevant area.
• Demonstrated marketing and communications experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of university and AP style.
• Basic photography and graphic design experience; demonstrated knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with CRM.
