Job Description

The lab of Dr. Matthew Weston, Ph.D. is seeking a responsible and well-organized Part Time Research Assistant who can support research activities in the laboratory. The projects in Dr. Weston’s lab focus on the study gene variants that cause human childhood epilepsies and seeks to understand the neurological physiology. This work uses electroencephalography (EEG) and in vivo Ca++ imaging to detect, localize, and characterize seizures and other brain activities.

The primary responsibility of this position is assisting in organizing, curating, and analyzing data for in vitro and in vivo research projects. The successful candidate should be detail oriented, keeping careful records of data flow and interactions with participants in a laboratory setting. The candidate should also be flexible and enjoy a fast-paced research environment.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in a professional research laboratory setting
• Demonstrated organizational skills or experience with data management.
• Desire to succeed in a fast-paced research environment with multiple duties.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or coursework in computer science, neuroscience, or related field, and/or the equivalent level of training and experience
• Experience with basic laboratory protocols including data collection and data management.
