Job Description

The Social Media Coordinator for the Moss Arts Center generates creative and engaging content for the center’s various social media channels, sharing the diverse facets of its many performances, exhibitions, and experiences with the world. The social media coordinator plays a key role in supporting the center’s online reputation and advancing the center’s strategic goals, priorities, and messages. The social media coordinator will bring innovative ideas to the marketing and communication team and will stay current with emerging technologies, platforms, and social media best practices. The coordinator must demonstrate good professional judgment, follow Moss Arts Center and university brand guidelines, and adhere to university policies and procedures.

The social media coordinator is a member of the marketing and communication team at the Moss Arts Center and reports to the content manager. This person will work collaboratively with members of the team. Guided by the center’s social media strategy, the social media coordinator will primarily collaborate with the content manager to create, execute, and monitor social media campaigns.

The social media coordinator will do this work in an accessible and inclusive manner for diverse audiences; create and use photos/videos effectively on social media platforms; follow, implement, and evaluate social media trends; and advance ideas in an inclusive manner.

This year-round part-time position will work approximately 20-30 hours per week, primarily on-site at the Moss Arts Center with some telework availability. The social media coordinator should have the availability to work some evenings, weekends, and hours outside the traditional workday.

Required Qualifications

- Strong communications skills, including accessibility and inclusivity for diverse audiences on digital platforms
- Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and monitoring communications campaigns
- Demonstrated experience writing for social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and/or other digital platforms
- Demonstrated experience taking smartphone photos and short videos for social media
- Ability to respond in a customer-service-type role to messages and inquiries in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or another related field or equivalent level of training and or experience
- Marketing experience
- Capability of working at events that may require physical stamina
- Experience using social media management tools and apps like Falcon
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
- Working knowledge of photography, videography, and graphic design skills and requirements
