Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Clinical-Track faculty position in Anatomic Pathology, with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The candidate will join a team of board-certified anatomic pathologists (currently numbering between five and seven). Duties will include providing diagnostic pathology service (including surgical biopsy and necropsy duty), teaching in the DVM professional program (including virology), training pathology residents (which includes teaching in graduate-level pathology courses and participating in histopathology rounds), and engaging in independent or collaborative research.

The necropsy and biopsy services are part of Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS), an AAVLD-accredited diagnostic laboratory, whose clients include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and veterinary clinics in the surrounding region. Evidence of a research and publication track record is encouraged, ideally in a research focus area of the college which includes:
Infectious Diseases,
Inflammatory/regulatory disorders (including cancer),
Translational/regenerative medicine,
Epidemiology/Disease Investigation.

There will be opportunities to develop independent and collaborative research programs within and outside the College of Veterinary Medicine, including at various life sciences-oriented institutes.

-DVM or Equivalent 
-ACVP/ECVP Board Eligible

Preferred Qualifications

-ACVP/ECVP Board Certification
-A PhD in the area of Infectious Diseases or Cancer Biology.
