The Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech invites applications for several Postdoctoral Associate positions. The normal term of appointment will be two years with the possibility of extension to a third year.
The position involves research in collaboration with one or more members of the tenure-line Virginia Tech Math faculty and teaching one course per semester. The primary responsibilities of the individual in the position will be to conduct research and publish journal papers on the results of that research. The individual will be also expected to disseminate research results via talks to professional audiences.
- Ph.D. in mathematics or a related discipline at the time of appointment. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Strong promise of developing an active research program in an area that can be mentored by the Mathematics Department faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals.
- Communication skills sufficient for working with members of a diverse research group and for teaching members of a diverse student body.
