The I-9 Compliance Coordinator is a key member of the HR Administration’s I-9 Compliance team, responsible for ensuring Virginia Tech complies with all regulations regarding the completion and maintenance of Form I-9, as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA). This role involves collaborating with HR practitioners, hiring managers, departments, senior management areas, I-9 processors, the HRIT team, and vendors to maintain compliance and address issues related to Form I-9 requirements.
• Associate’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent training and experience.
• Strong experience with I-9 processing and completion.
• Knowledge of laws governing Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel and Word), Outlook, and internet applications.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment, with excellent time-management skills.
• Strong customer service skills and experience working with diverse clientele.
• Demonstrated leadership and the ability to provide clear guidance on I-9 requirements.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an HR support team and maintain confidentiality.
• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to audit reports, identify inconsistencies, and assist with issue resolution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Commensurate with Experience up to $47,000
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
