Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate ICU Technician to support our clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the ICU/ECC (Emergency Critical Care) sections. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our emergency services and providing top-tier care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
-Deliver outstanding nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, ensuring their comfort and stability.
-Expertly manage and monitor multiple Continuous Rate Infusions (CRI) with meticulous attention to detail.
-Collaborate seamlessly with specialty services including; Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Advanced Procedures, and Surgical Oncology to provide comprehensive patient care.
-Assist clinicians in receiving, triaging, and admitting emergency patients.
-Perform critical care nursing procedures in the ICU as directed by clinical faculty.
-Administer treatments and medications as prescribed by clinical faculty.
-Educate and mentor veterinary students in technical and manipulative skills related to ICU/Critical Care.
-Oversee ward and treatment room operations, including infection control and isolation management.
-Maintain precise and thorough patient records, documenting all treatments and observations.
-Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering updates and education on their pet's condition and care.

-On-Call Shifts and Rotating Holidays:
-Participate in on-call shifts to provide critical care support during off-hours.
-Work rotating holidays to ensure continuous patient care and support for the ICU team.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT).
Experience in intensive care within a veterinary medical setting.
Strong expertise in CRI management and critical care protocols.
Proficient in basic nursing skills and CPR.
Skilled in advanced veterinary technician procedures such as central venous line placement, urinary catheterization, and monitoring blood transfusions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary clinical setting.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
