Job Description

We’re currently searching for an Assistant Director to join our Fraternity and Sorority Life team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re ready to join a dynamic and vibrant community, please keep reading.

Here’s what you need to know about the role:
1)     You’ll be joining the Fraternity and Sorority Life team; a department centered on coaching, educating, and connecting 5,400+ students in 60+ fraternity/sorority organizations on VTs campus.
2)     You’ll be reporting to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 
3)     You’ll be responsible for coordination of all building and community aspects of the Oak Lane on-campus residential community; collaboration with campus and organizational partners; creation of a student community oriented towards that academic and social well-being of residents; hire, train and supervise paraprofessional staff to create a safe and inclusive environment; perform administrative duties congruent with maintaining community standards, facility and occupancy management, and a safe and secure environment.
4)     You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
5)     You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $55,000-$57,000 off-campus or $49,000-$51,000 on-campus, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in college student affairs or related field conferred by time of appointment to position.
• Actively partner with Hokie Wellness and other campus partners to instill a sense of well-being, belonging, and inclusion for residents in the Oak Lane Community
• Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills through all interactions with Oak Lane Residents, House Supervisors, Chapter Leadership, and campus partners (or other university based FSL campus partners)
• Demonstrate strong administrative and organizational skills;
• Possess the ability to form and maintain positive relationships with multiple and diverse campus and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with a fraternity and sorority community/ population and /or working in residence life/ housing operations
• Experience with training, teaching and leadership development;
• Demonstrate an understanding of the complex landscape and issues involved in the fraternity and sorority community/ population.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully engage in conflict and have difficult conversations.
