Job Description

Provides customer service to those who submit samples to the Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS) at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); performs procedures to prepare, expedite and facilitate laboratory analysis of specimens, routing those specimens to the correct inhouse or external laboratory. Performs laboratory activities as assigned including courier, general lab cleaning. Must report to work during inclement weather closings.

Required Qualifications

Working knowledge of veterinary medical laboratory practices and procedures; must possess keyboarding and basic computer skills; ability to write an SOP, ability to work well with others; good organizational skills; ability to learn new procedures and be adaptable; excellent communication/customer service skills and phone etiquette. Must have an acceptable and safe driving record, valid driver's license.

Bachelor of Science in related field. MT/CLS (ASCP), LVT
