Job Description

We invite applications for a postdoctoral associate in theoretical Quantum Information Science in the Computer Science Department of Virginia Tech at the Innovation Campus in Alexandria, Virginia.

The focus of these positions will be on quantum computing, quantum algorithms, quantum learning, quantum error correction, and quantum fault-tolerance.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment in the quantum information groups of Prof. Steven Flammia at Virginia Tech. There will be plenty of opportunities for collaboration with other members of the larger group at Virginia Tech, and with some of the leading experimental and theory groups around the world. The Postdoctoral Associate position will also involve opportunities for travel (once scientific travel is restored and safe) to present in conferences and to collaborate with other groups. The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the above areas and disseminate results in journal publications and conference presentations.

Required Qualifications

- Ph.D. in either Quantum Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Theoretical Physics or a closely related field. PhD must be awarded no more than five years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one-year eligibility remaining.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of concepts and techniques from Quantum Information Science.
- Experience with Python, Julia, Mathematica and quantum programming environments like Qiskit.
