Job Description

The position is service and instruction oriented and will be focused on continuation of the College's Equine Podiatry Service. The purpose of the Equine Podiatry Service is to unite the special skills, knowledge, and experience of a professional farrier with those of the veterinary specialists of the College in order to provide state of the art corrective and therapeutic foot care for horses in all stages of life. The successful applicant will also contribute to the instructional and outreach programs of the College.

Required Qualifications

American Farrier’s Association certification as a Certified Journeyman Farrier
Previous experience in the practice of advanced farriery
Substantial experience with therapeutic shoeing techniques
Leadership and management experience in farriery practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

American Farrier’s Association Therapeutic Endorsement Certification
Experience instructing veterinary students
Experience organizing outreach events
Experience training/mentoring apprentice farriers
