The IT department of the Pamplin College of Business is seeking a web developer who is skilled in designing front ends to enhance and maintain the customer-facing aspects of our web applications. This position focuses on creating modern, accessible, and mobile-friendly user interfaces that align with university branding and usability standards. Responsibilities include gathering and translating customer requirements into actionable work items, designing interactive web UI components, and developing data visualizations & reports to enhance the college’s strategic goal of data-driven decision making. The developer will also implement and maintain UI testing frameworks to ensure front-end reliability.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of IT – Applications & Data Services, this role collaborates with stakeholders to develop and support the college’s web application presence. The Web Solutions Developer will work closely with the Assistant Director to integrate front-end web components with back-end and data systems, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance. The ideal candidate has experience in front-end development, UI/UX best practices, creating no-code/low-code reporting solutions, and developing using Agile project management processes.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience in web development.
Experience creating modern, cross-browser, & accessible web pages using the latest standard & frameworks (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Skilled with basic scripting to interact with APIs & other dynamic data sources via web application front ends.
Experience working within general project management guidelines, plan and manage tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver work that aligns with established expectations.
Familiarity with code repository/version control management concepts.
Familiarity with accessibility concerns in front-end development and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Experience using common web front-end frameworks/packages (e.g. Bootstrap, DevExpress, jQuery).
Familiarity with no-code/low-code solutions (e.g. Microsoft Power platform) to create forms, workflows, reports, etc.
Demonstrated experience/skill creating web pages that meet WCAG success criteria levels and familiarity with web accessibility testing tools.
Experience with configuring, implementing, & automating web application UI testing tools/frameworks.
Experience creating data reports & visualizations (e.g Power BI, DevExpress).
Demonstrated experience performing development work using a Git workflow & Agile project management methodologies.
Familiarity with web programming language/technologies (e.g. ASP.NET Core).
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
