Job Description

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Assistant Professor position in Virginia Tech's Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will be affiliated with Wireless@VT and will contribute to foundational and applied research in wireless communication systems. Representative areas of focus include: (i) Artificial intelligence and machine learning for next-generation wireless networks, (ii) Foundations of semantic communications and age of information, (iii) Stochastic geometry and spatial modeling of large-scale wireless systems, and (iv) Next-generation positioning, navigation, and timing.

The selected candidate will also support research proposal development, dissemination, and student mentoring efforts within a dynamic research group.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
• Strong publication record in leading journals and conferences
• Demonstrated expertise in wireless communications, communication theory, information theory, applied probability, and optimization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience mentoring graduate students and contributing to the development of grant proposals
• Research background spanning multiple emerging areas such as AI/ML for communication systems, age of information, and semantic communications.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams
