Job Description

At Virginia Tech we prioritize excellence in our HR operations and understand the critical role technology and process improvement play in driving organizational success. The HRIT Systems Administrator will work closely with other team members, the expanded HRIT support team, support teams for other centrally managed systems, business process owners, HR leadership, external representatives of system vendors and other resources as needed. The HRIT Systems Administrator will support the human resource operations reporting requirements by creating, reviewing, and modifying/decommissioning reports, work with team members and other stakeholders to assist with resolution of systems related issues and identifying/implementing controls to mitigate potential issues. This position will be responsible for reviewing/initiating/terminating systems access, conducting periodic access audits, troubleshooting system functionality issues, identifying and executing process improvements by leveraging increased utilization of system functionality and technology, and develop and maintain system related documentation and training.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology or related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
• System administration/support experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SQL.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate processes, identify and implement solutions to aid in processing data efficiently and accurately, in a high-volume, fast paced environment.
• Experience organizing, planning, and prioritizing work while managing multiple tasks simultaneously with successful outcomes within deadlines.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensure data integrity and create reports to assist with data analysis and error mitigation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Demonstrative ability to work with and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret federal and state regulations, university policies and the ability to communicate the requirements as applicable to ensure compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using a business intelligence and other reporting tools.
• Familiarity with HCM systems and related data.
• Knowledge of database/system functionality, and experience analyzing data to identify trends and errors.
• Experience with system access requirements and audits.
• Experience developing and maintaining system related documentation.
• Experience working in a state agency or a university setting.

Additional Information

This position may be prominently onsite during the training/onboarding period then may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days on site, 2 days remote.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
